Sonia Pérez is an experienced evaluator and researcher with both an academic and professional background in public health and International Development. She is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and currently works as a Senior Consultant for IOD PARC in the UK where she sits within the WASH portfolio team and has worked on a consultant basis for various multilateral organisations and UN bodies. Her recent engagements have included formative evaluations of WASH programmes implemented by UNICEF Country Offices in Nigeria and Myanmar, as well as for the UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Office. She has also been involved in the designing of a capacity assessment tool for WASH response in emergencies.

Prior to this, she gained experience and a particular interest in WASH from her work as a Project manager in a small UK-based NGO managing WASH projects throughout their lifecycle with partner organisations in sub-Saharan Africa. She studied Geography and International Development at the University of Northampton (UK) and completed a Masters of Public Health and International Development at the University of Sheffield (UK) whereby she was first introduced to Rotary International through a placement in Malaysia working with a local Rotary Club’s ‘health clinic’ flagship project.

As well as WASH, Sonia’s thematic areas of interest include Public Health, HIV/AIDS, migrant health, and the gender related cross cutting links to these. She has experience working in a diverse range of countries across East Asia and sub-Saharan Africa and is looking forward to getting involved further with Rotary.
