Patrick Sloan
Civil Engineer
Patrick is currently the County Engineer for two counties in north central Illinois responsible for 800 miles of rural roads and 150 bridges. He lives on a small livestock farm with his spouse of 40 years, Donna. Most of his professional career was as a project manager and client director for a consulting engineering in the Midwest with work including municipal water supply, treatment and distribution systems (0.05 to 6 million gallons per day), soil and groundwater investigations and remediation, and waste management, for clients ranging from farmers to the federal government. He worked for five years in Appalachia with a public interest and grassroots community organization on environmental issues relating to coal mining and oil and gas drilling. He is a professional engineer with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and a M.S. in Agricultural Engineering. His WASH experience has been as an advisor to Engineers Without Borders, and initiating and maintaining a biosand household filter production, installation and training facility in Southeast Haiti under the auspices of Hands Helping Haiti, www.haitiwaterproject.org.
